07/08 — CO160 roadside shrine

i passed this beautiful roadside shrine west of Walsenburg but before i started on the Highway of Legends • i had to stop, & i took so many pictures they wanted their own post

i am not Catholic • but i respect genuinely-held faith of any sort that wishes people well • & what else is such a shrine for?

  1. I have always loved this little shrine too. :) While it is very Catholic, there are Marionite Catholics in this area. I’ve always felt it more of a Mother shrine. Especially as it faces the Spanish Peaks…(Huahatoya Breasts of the Mother.)

    • Ooh, I didn’t know that about the Spanish Peaks — it’s very appropriate.
